Honestly, I don’t want to believe that River State Governor, Nyesom Wike, South-South governors and others are not interested in the forthcoming Ondo State Gubernatorial Election. They’re interested because of 2023 general elections especially the presidential election. They believe that anybody who emerge as the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate is the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria because President Muhammadu Buhari has failed woefully and they also believe that All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate is coming from the southern part of the country and it’ll be more easier for PDP candidate from the northern part of the country to emerge as the winner at the end of the day base on our political culture.
To Wike and others, Eyitayo Jegede who is the flagbearer of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP isn’t PDP candidate but Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s candidate hence the reason behind their decision to go for the Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi who is the candidate of Zenith Labour Party for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
I can tell you without fear or favour that Wike and others were the reason behind Agboola Ajayi’s decision to left All Progressives Congress, APC for the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, and Ajayi’s decision to left PDP for ZLP in order to achieve their pre-set plan. They perceived the former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the only political threat to their plan to ensure that the Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal succeed President Muhammadu Buhari on the 29th day of May, 2023 and they don’t want to lose Ondo State to Atiku at this material time.
With this, it’s obvious that it will be difficult for either the candidate of our party, the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Eyitayo Jegede or the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, Agboola Ajayi to win the forthcoming election in Ondo State because of the division in PDP and personal interest and it’ll be difficult for the incumbent Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu to lose his re-election bid on Saturday’s election.
Anyway, Time will tell. The day is still young. I wish, hope and pray that Eyitayo Jegede and Agbola Ajayi can come together, and work together in order to chase out Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu. We are waiting and watching.
