The Founder and National President, Northern Nigeria Women Initiative, Hon. Charity Echor has called on women from northern part of Nigeria to work together in order to achieve an equal future in a COVID-19 world for the betterment of the northern woman.
She made this call in a statement signed and released to the media on the occasion of 2021 International Women’s Day celebration on Monday, 8th of March, 2021.
The National President of the organization described the theme of the year 2021 International Women’s Day celebration “WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP: ACHIEVING AN EQUAL FUTURE IN A COVID-19 WORLD,” as perfect and timely. According to her, the highlights of this year’s theme emphasise on how women can be equal partners in decision making processes especially in the area of policy formation and implementation.
Hon. Charity Echor who is also the current Senior Special Adviser on Civil Society to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State called on women to be focused and united as a group of people in order to achieve their pre-set objectives in life.
She advised them to ensure that their children especially girls acquired western and secular education and not to be discouraged by the ongoing kidnapping of schoolgirls in the northern part of Nigeria especially in the north-west and north-central geo-political zones as occasioned by the activities of the notorious bandits. She further advised parents to encourage their children to be security conscious henceforth.
