Ebe & Easter Festivals; Okene Council Chairman Warn Trouble Makers, Assures Residents of Adequate Security

Ahead of Easter and Ebe festivals, the Chairman of Okene Local Government, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad has assures residents that government will ensure adequate security of lives and property before, during and after the festival celebrations. He warn intending trouble makers to have a rethink as security agencies have orders to deal decisively with any trouble maker.

Hon. Abdulrazaq stated this when he appeared on a radio program in Okene to explain modalities of celebrating the two festivals without hitches. He said, It is with utmost pleasure and sense of responsibility to address the good people of Okene Local Government and indeed Ebiraland at this special moment of Ebe and Easter celebration.

On behalf of the management, staff and people of Okene Local Government, the chairman convey to the christain community his hearty felicitation on the celebration of Easter. He prayed the season bring to us the desired joy, love and empathy as symbolise by Jesus Christ.

However, this year Easter celebration in Okene clash with the traditional Ebe festival. The clash will no doubt inconvenient our christain women who are expected to be indoor between Saturday night 3rd April and early morning Sunday 4th April, 2021.

As goverment, our duty is to ensure the protection of everyone including their right to religion practice without hindrance. It is on this note, I want to specially thank the Chrstains for their patient and assure them of proper arrangements to avoid such in the future. The chairman again use the medium to warn any intending trouble makers to shelve such idea as security agencies have orders to ensure the protection of lives and property.

Government have also directed all masqurade custodians and their supporters to begin 8pm Saturday 3rd April and end all activities on or before 8am sunday 4th April, 2021 so as to give way for the christains to perform their religious activities. The government also suspended Ida celebration for all masqurades.

The chairman wishes them a successful Easter and Ebe celebrations.
