***says petition is lacking of diligent prosecution
Senator Dino Melaye, former senator representing Kogi West senatorial district has reacted to the FCT High Court judgment on Tuesday striking out his prosecution by the office of the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General of the Federation.
It could be recalled that Melaye was being prosecuted on six count charge bordering on attempted suicide, attempt to escape from custody and damage of police property amongst others.
The Justice Yusuf Halilu led court thereby struck out the petition for lacking of diligent prosecution and therefore discharge and acquitted Melaye.
The judge made the order following the inability of the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation to produce its sole proposed witness to testify on Tuesday.
Melaye speaking on his victory thanked God for granting him victory and also appreciates the court for standing on the part of justice.
