Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu 2023:Obanewo intensifies move as he formally inform his comunity of intention

***Says “I see where there is a need/an inadequacy and I strive to make things better”

Charity they say, begins at home. That is the case of intending Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency contender, ENGR. MICHAEL IDOWU OBANEWO.
Obanewo, who recently formally inform his community association, Ayetoro Gbede Descendant Forum, through her Lagos chapter of his intentions to contest the forthcoming Federal House of Representatives seat.
This was contained in a letter dated 16th February, 2021.
The letter which reads:I am excited to officially and formally announce that I am running for the Seat of the Federal House of Representatives of the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Constituency come 2023. I am reaching out to you, my friends, brothers/sisters and community leaders to ask for your endorsement and volunteer effort. I am honored to have earned the early support of most of our people on this platform both home and abroad. I thought I would have the opportunity to address all members during one of our meetings but because of the ravaging pandemic which has put our meetings on hold for some time now, I have not been able to do so. However, I felt I should reach out to you through this medium.

As someone who had a humble life growing up in Ayetoro Gbede, I will say that I know the value and the importance of communities in townships. I have seen the extraordinary ways in which dwellers of our town and its environs, had over the years made effort to strengthen their communities even in difficult times. I am aware of the needs of the Community and I have been instrumental in solely carrying out projects in our Community some of which neighbouring communities are benefitting from to this day. Some of the projects include:

Knowing well that life is about adding value to others, I have been running an internship program for industrial attachment and graduate trainees in Telecoms for our young ones across our constituency, which gives them the necessary skills to be employable, empowered and be a blessing to all. During this period, I pay them some stipend from my purse which serves as feeding and transport allowance. This have been on for quite some time now and still on going. Some of the beneficiaries are expatriates outside Nigeria till now.

-I single handedly renovated, restored and upgraded the central water System in the heart of the town which has four (4) outlets within some quarters of our dear Community, Ayetoro Gbede;

-I carried out an extensive renovation of the General Hospital Ayetoro Gbede where I supplied and donated numerous medical equipment;

-I singlehandedly renovated the Doctor’s residence in our Community Ayetoro Gbede.

-I carried out the total overhauling of the 200Kva Mikano Generator which serves as the source of power to the water system;

-I paid the WAEC fees of all the SS3 Students in Okoro Gbede High School, being my alumni in the year 2019 and now paying for the JAMB form for all those who made the requirement to proceed to Higher institution;

-I am a financial member of Ayetoro Gbede Global Network (AGN) which is involved in carrying out numerous developmental projects in our Community among which is the total re-building of CHS Ayetoro Gbede and the on-going state of the art hospital project.

-I have over the years been involved in the personal and career growth of so many indigenes of our Community.

-I have been instrumental to the sustenance of Ayetoro Gbede Descendant Forum Lagos Chapter (AGDF) for about seven years, which has brought unity among members, developmental projects to our Community and service to humanity.

-In appreciation of my contribution to the development and change I brought into our Community and its environs; I have been given several awards amongst which is “A shining example to the Youths” by Ayetoro Gbede Community.

My involvement in public service is solely based on providing and ameliorating the living standards of all and if given the opportunity to serve, the entire Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Constituency will benefit immensely from my developmental programs. There are four (4) issues I intend to focus my campaign program on:

Education: If elected, my administration will focus on lifting the standards of our schools to ensure that basic and qualitative education is enjoyed by all and sundry irrespective of the socio-economic and tribal status.

Socio-Economic Development & Empowerment: there will be an improvement in the quality of life of our people by providing basic amenities. Job creation and vocational training will also be provided to curtail the issue of unemployment.

Health: As the saying goes, health is wealth, my administration will focus on the provision of immediate and urgent medical equipment for hospitals and health care centers by partnering with various credible NGOs, private bodies and other stakeholders.

Good Representation: knowing fully well that the main purpose of the seat of the House of Representatives is to make laws and scrutinize the Executive arm of the Government, I will make sure that whatever Bills I will be sponsoring or co-sponsoring will be in the best interest of the Constituency and Nigeria at large, if elected.

My patriotic zeal and passion to improve our homeland/constituency has spurred my candidacy. I have been proven to be trustworthy, reliable, selfless, focused and goal oriented. I see where there is a need/an inadequacy and I strive to make things better. My antecedents speak for me. All of these and much more makes me the perfect candidate to represent the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Constituency.

The Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Constituency need people like you and I which recognizes that there is social injustice, a need, disadvantage, inequality that must be addressed. It needs people like us to say “enough is enough”. It is time for progress.

Thank you for your time, and I hope I can count on your support, endorsement and contribution as always.

Best Wishes,
Engr. Michael Idowu Obanewo (MNSE)
