SFif of the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning have been enjoined to be diligent and more effective in the discharge of their duty.
The Commissioner, Hon. Asiwaju Idris gave the charge during a meeting with the Staff and Management of the Ministry who congratulated him on his recent reappointment.
He commended the staff for their disposition to duty and urged them not to relent in their efforts but to do more for the betterment of the State.
He appealed to them and seek for their support to enable him achieve his desired result in moving the Ministry and State forward.
While calling on staff to change their attitude to the approach of things in other to get positive results, Hon. Idris emphasized on the need to improve on revenue and reduce cost. He noted that, the Strategic Revenue Growing Initiative has been lunched in the Ministry, and as such, will assist in improving more revenue for the State so as to reduce the burden of borrowing.
Speaking on the minimum wage, the Commissioner maintained that the State must fashion out a way of increasing the revenue so as to avoid salary crises and also ensure that the Gov. Yahaya Bello’s led administration sustains his promise of paying salary on the 27th of every month, haven’t demonstrated it since last year.
He further disclosed that the State Government is resolute that whatever that is not included in the budget will not get approval of funds, adding that whatever will get approval of funds,must go through the efficiency unit. He however assured members of the cooperation the Efficiency Unit to work closely with them and ensure the right thing is done.
The Commissioner said, more department such as the International Cooperation Department and Monitoring and Evaluation ( M & E) has been created to assist in the discharge of the new task ahead. He said the M&E departments will be saddled with the responsibility of monitoring MDAs and to ensure justification of money expended on projects.
Earlier the Permanent Secretary, Mr jimoh Muhammed presented him with a congratulatory card on his reappointment and promised him of maximum cooperation and a good working relationship with all staff.
He also commended the Governor for the reappointment of the Commissioner and said the Governor has once again, demonstrated that competencies supersedes every other interest.
