A Kabba born philanthropist and politician, Mr Olaiya Michael Olobatoke has in his new year message charged Nigerians to as a matter of fact be thankful to God for surviving the odds of the year 2020, admonishing them to make a reflection on the past year, and chart a new course towards taking advantage of such situation.
In his message he said “As we enter into 2021, we should all give thanks to God for his faithfulness, mercy and benevolences. And while at it, we should also take time to reflect and chart a new course”.
Things can no longer be handled the way it used to be, so, embracing the new normal and been creative is the way to go if we must harness our potentials, for a better and fruitful year.
As a people, individuals and as a nation; getting a better year for the citizens will only be possible if we reflect on the errors of the past, consolidate also on where we may have gotten it right, not sit and brood over our inadequacies but see our population and diversity as a positive stimulus in forging and processing a great black nation.
Let me also reiterate that the Okun-Yoruba people, may have had their fair share of good representative in the past, we must note that a good, youthful, vibrant and continuous representation is none negotiable.
Okun as a people has a great number of untapped, undeveloped resources, we also pride in wisdom, integrity and high educational prowess. Asking for more is our right, developing the land to the acceptable standard is a must, Okun is indeed the giant of self-help, we must not lose focus in actualising our dream Okun-Yoruba nation.
Regardless of what 2020 hurled at us, we must embrace 2021 with a determined mind. We must create something out of nothing, we must walk the uncommon path without any necessary trepidation. We must surmount all hilly challenges, we must come out unscathed and unhurt.
We have to prayerfully work hard if we must see the progress of our nation Nigeria. We must be knitted together if we want to see the desired Kogi state, we must move as a team if we are to achieve an Okun-Yoruba nation that is worthy of emulation.
The good news now is that 2021 shall be a great and fruitful year for us all.
Congratulations to us all for weathering it to this prosperous new year.
Olobatoke Micheal Olaiya
