Politics’ Not All About Character Assassination, Falsehood; Why We Respect Hon. MD Eseyin

Trumped up charges, character assassination, falsehood and harmful make beliefs have become the current stock in trade.

Our worry now is, these same people will come here later to wax lyrical about how Ebira, Igala etc. are always united around their own. The fact is, the foundation of peace is built in times of war.

The law of sowing holds that you reap whatever you sow. It is natural. And, more so, what determines the true maturity of a man is what he does with power and privileges.

I remember the number of frame ups we learnt about in the last general election. As peaceable as I think I am trying to be, my name found its way to the list of “miscreants” just for them to get their desired result. That now is past, but the remembrance lives on.

Till tomorrow, We will always respect the conduct of Hon. MD Eseyin for that singular conduct in that immediate past general election. Not because we come from the same ward, after all we are not same way align politically. He has the privilege and power to force the result he wanted without respect for the aftermath, but he chose a path of peace.

He remembered that home is home, and now is not always. He lost the ward, and perhaps consequently his appointment but he won our respect and love, which may be a role player in the future.

Life should not be about gimmicks, being subtle or cunning. It may work well in the short run, availing the wielder the bragging right and swelling their egos, but in the long run it produces distasteful eventuality.
