May I use this opportunity to on behalf of all honorable members of Lokoja Club 1901 to congratulate His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State for your overwhelming victory in the November 16’”, 2019 gubernatorial election. We reiterate that your victory for a second tenure of office is well deserved. While praying for exceeding Grace for greater achievement, we assure you of our unalloyed support of your programmes and policies.
As the Grand Patron of Lokoja Club 1901, and by our Constitution, you reserve the right to preside over the inauguration of the new Executives. This explains why your presence is important.
Sir, permit me to mention that Lokoja Club 1901 is the oldest club in Nigeria. It is a social and recreational legacy left behind by Sir Fredrick Lord Lugard the First Governor General of Nigeria. The sporting arena is surrounded by structures.
Today, our structural and sporting facilities do not conform with modern standard obtainable in the various clubs that sprang up after the establishment of Lokoja club 1901. Poor sporting facilities and structural decay are evident. The benefit derivable by members or participants is gradually diminishing due to the poor state of facilities.
Though, serious efforts have been put in place to put the Club in good shape. Very recently, the entire clearing of the premises was embarked upon. Worthy of mention is the renovation of the Club hall among other visible achievements. We therefore request the support of the general public to support us to realize the following proposals within this period of two year tenure.
- A new Mikano generating set to replace the old one which can no longer serve the club,
- Upgrading of our sporting facilities,
- Construction of guest chalets,
- A coastal or 18 seater bus to convey our members for intra & inter-state club competitions,
- Complete face lift of Lokoja Club 1901,
- Appeal for monthly grant for secretariat upkeep and other contingencies.
Your Excellency Sir, while thanking you for the previous girlnancial and other assistance we equally appeal to you to support us in the above mentioned projects as your investment in this direction cannot be described as wasteful because reasonable percentage of the state workforce stand to benefit from it as members and also bring about huge relieve from health challenges. This is why your investment in the club will be very salutary.
On our part as Executive and honorable members, we want to specifically assure Your Excellency of our resolute stand to support and cooperate with your Administration in your quest to make a positive difference in governance.
Thank you Your Excellency, we wish you the best in all your endeavors.
Long live Lokoja Club 1901!
Long live Kogi State!!
Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria! !! Thank you all and God bless.
