The Rt. Honourable Towonifinni Mosiko, on Saturday the 27th of February admonished students of Kogi State University, Anyigba, on the need to embrace Entrepreneurship, in order to improve their standards of living, create jobs and improve research /innovations.
She made this charge while speaking at the Bunu Day Celebration of Bunu Students’ Union, Kogi State University Chapter, as the guest speaker on the theme : “Balancing Education and Entrepreneurship as Students.”
Hon. Towonifinni made it clear that the only way out of unemployment in any society is entrepreneurship.
“Unemployment is one of the pain areas and prickly issues being faced by any economy. Unemployment not just in uneducated but also has branched its roots in the educated sectors.
Entrepreneurship is the greatest weapon to counter act this issue and to empower the youths. Youths by default are energized and empowered, they are willing to explore new territories and take up new challenges and risks”, she said.
She encouraged the students to be humble and ready to learn and adapt to the new normal.
Hon. Mosiko also highlighted some of the vocational skills that could be of interest to the students, which can help to boost their employability status.
The guest speaker – Hon. Towonifinni Mosiko emphasized on the need to follow their passion, which would invariably equip them to face the challenges that may arise from their businesses. She made them to understand that every business involves risk taking, thus they must be ready to take the risk.
Also at the occasion, Hon. Towonifinni was presented with an award of Honour, being the first female National President of Bunu Students’ Union from the Institution and for many other unprecedented achievements she has recorded.
