Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones participated as the Guest Reader in the maiden edition of the Readers are Leaders program; a readership campaign designed by the Science Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM) to promote literacy and reading culture amongst secondary school students in Kogi State.
At Bishop Delisle College Lokoja, the Commissioner read to the admiration of hundreds of students, a book titled 17 Secrets of a High Flying Student written by Fela Durotoye, a renowned leadership coach. As he read out, he took time to explain and mentor the young lads on how to excel in and out of school and their roles in joining to solve today’s societal problems.
The highlights of the event were the EBIGO cultural display by students of the college, as well as the Commissioner’s presentation of sensitization materials against social vices, smart class time tables and books on temperament and leadership from STETSCOM to the school library.
Hon. Wemi Jones was joined at the event by the Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Education, Dr. Gabriel Ottah, and the Permanent Secretary Kogi State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Samson.
