Baseball and Softball development:International Sports Association California USA (ISA) Signs Memorandum of Agreement with University of Ilorin

On 10th of May, 2021, a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between International Sports Association California USA (ISA) and the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) was held at the Senate Building of the University of Ilorin.

The MoU is an important step in reinforcing committment of ISA and Unilorin towards Education, Sports, and Youth Development.

The agreement highlights the fundamental role of each parties toward sustainable partnership in ensuring and protecting fundamental rights and privileges of the parties involved. It further reinforces dialogue with specialized training facilities to promote the game of baseball and softball in Kwara State to international standards and access to facilities.

In attendance during the sigining, The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, The Registrar, Univeristy of Ilorin Dr. Mrs Fola Olowoleni, The Director of Sports University of Ilorin Professor Dominique, The President of International Sports Association Jason Cly, ISA Africa Director/ Europe Commissioner Amb. Temitayo Femi Abolarin, ISA Africa Director and Player Development Desmond Relaford who played in Major League for 11 years, ISA Nigeria Director, Elder Ogunseye Joseph and Country Director of Double T Baseball and Softball Yakubu Olawale.

Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem during the ceremony said His office is fully committed to the development of the university in whatever form and shape provided it would bring positive development, he appreciated ISA for chosing Unilorin as the first point of call to establish a Baseball and Softball Academy in the whole Africa. He further assures the ISA of the University to raise a Baseball and Softball Team as soon as possible so they compete in both local and international competitions.

He shared his experience in the US and how Baseball and Softball is a family game.

The President of International Sports Association Jason Cly appreciated Unilorin for accepting ISA’s proposal to establish an Academy in the school as the first in Africa. He said International Sports Association has no limit in the aspect of building facilities and supplies to the academy with abundant opportunities for the school.

Players (Students) will engage in International tournaments around the world.

Ex Major League and The Africa Director Player Development Desmond Relaford said training of coaches is a priority of the ISA which is his area of expertise.

The Africa Director/Europe Commissioner Amb. Temitayo Femi Abolarin appreciated the VC and the President of ISA for the monumental development brought to bear, He referred to The President of ISA as the God-Sent to Africa.
